Where can I get advice?
It is sometimes difficult to know what your rights are and what you can do if you disagree with repairs being done, you aren't happy with the work that's been done or how much you have been charged.
There are rules about what you have to pay as a Leaseholder for repairs, improvements and services and these are strictly limited to whats in your lease. Norwich City Council have to carry out a consultation with leaseholders in respect of some major works and long term agreements with contractors, and the costs incurred need to be reasonably incurred. Disputes can be raised in a variety of ways, whether by disputing the charges with the Home Ownership Team, making a formal complaint or taking your dispute to the First Tier (Property) Tribunal.
Norwich Leaseholders Association do not give legal advice, but we are here to support leaseholders through the process and there are a number of specialist advice agencies that provide full, comprehensive and up to date information about all matters leasehold on their websites.
